There's no place like London

Well, I've been to London for the first time in my life. Cautious as I am, I had planned every detail of our four day trip to this amazing city. Despite all that, getting there I've suffered from a sensory overload. I was overwhelmed by the size of this city, by all the crowded places we wanted to visit and last but not least the confusing public transport system. This one nearly knocked me out as it's a lot different from the one I know from Vienna, not even saying that it's ten times bigger. ;)

So we stayed in a beautiful hotel in Croydon, which I think was more of a business hotel, since there was an iron stored in our wardrobe. The way there from the airport was quite a journey. We took a taxi, as we didn't think we'd find our hotel right away. Ever since then we decided that Croydon was the right choice. It's a lot calmer than the city and we got to Victoria by train in about half an hour. From there we could reach some of the top sights on our list by foot, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey. The Tower of London took us literally half a day. There's just so much to see. We got to listen to one of those audio guides, which tell you all about this place's history.

On our third day we visited Kew Gardens, which is a fascinating place. There we spotted a lady, who was followed by all kinds of birds, which apparently live there. Surrounded by them she eventually fed them bread. It was a quite fascinating scene to observe.

Falling for our consumerist society I naturally had to visit Harrod's, Topshop and the Disney Store for some souvenirs. I liked the thought of visiting London, when I was still at home. Being there made me love this place even more and I'm definitely coming back.

Have you ever been to London? Is there something you agree/disagree on?

Thank you for reading!

Have a nice day!
